Missouri City, Texas

Dear Friends of NAIM,
The Friendship Trip group from South Dakota was in Texas last week, arriving late July 30th and leaving early on August 4th. The youth and chaperones stayed with host families. NAIM thanks the McCarns, Statons, Smiths, and Cains for providing activities for their guests along with just having them be a part of the family.  One day the entire group went to the Houston Zoo and another day was spent enjoying the Gulf of Mexico at Janet Morris' beach home. On August 2nd, the group prepared for that evening's mini powwow by practicing drumming, singing, and making fry bread and other Indian taco "fixings."  The powwow was a success with members of the group sharing their culture, answering questions, and teaching some dances to those who attended.
Thank you to St. Catherine's Episcopal Church for co-hosting the group and the First United Methodist Church for providing the site for the mini powwow.
The visitors from South Dakota returned to their home state tired, but with many memories.
