2008 Summer Mission Trip Rosebud Reservation
Jul 31, 2008 by Sherry LucasOur two weeks on Rosebud were very busy. The first week we were joined by a group from New York State and the second week a group from Denver, CO. The photos show Bible School, the painting and cleaning at Trinity Church in Mission, and the team working together making gifts for the nursing home residents. Also pictured are the homeless men who sit by Trinity Church every day amidst the trash, also pictured. We had them help pick the trash up before we gave them a free lunch. The empty generic bottles of mouthwash are shown as this is what they sometimes drink as it has alcohol in it and can be purchased in the dry county. An artist, Joe Gangone, is pictured in the workshop at the Art Institute at Sinte Gleska University. Some team members are seen enjoying a game of Dominoes during free time.

The team is shown working on crafts together, deciding which will work best for projects with the children. Nursing home residents are pictured with the afghans we gave them. The team is also pictured with Fr. Webster Two Hawk at the nursing home. There are photos of the team at the lunch sale and team and community members doing craft projects and sharing a community meal. Also pictured is the painting of the inside of the church at Corn Creek. Team members are also shown adding graffiti to the youth room where we stayed. There is even a photo of AnnaBelle, the dog, wanting to come to craft time, but obediently staying outside.
2006 Mission Trip to Rosebud Reservation
Jul 1, 2006 by Sherry LucasThese are photos from the June trip. Dorothy Lunderman, a NAIM advisory board member, is pictured on the right in the first photo wearing her NAIM T-shirt. We conducted bible school in three communities & served community meals in two communities. The children helped get the tables ready for the meal. We also delivered gifts (Uncle Sam "knick-knacks"), made by the children at bible school, to nursing home residents. In the second photo of the second row a resident of the nursing home shows her Uncle Sam, propped on her T-shirt along with tea towels she's embroidered. She gave the NAIM the towels. One evening we took a meal into Spotted Tail Crisis Center and the next day part of the team painted a room there. We held two lunch sales to benefit eight churches on the Reservation, NAIM also constructed a wheelchair ramp at Calvary Church in Okreek and built three more bunk beds for the residence there.

July 2005 Mission Trip to Rosebud Reservation
Jul 9, 2005 by Sherry LucasMost of the photos were taken at Bible School in Ideal. The children especially liked planting seeds in addition to the other crafts. They are always excited when we have seeds and potting soil with us. There are also photos of a "dinner party and meeting" we had at our residence for NAIM's advisory board members. The band pictured is Brule. They were giving a free concert at Mt. Rushmore on our day off. We also held an Indian taco lunch sale to help one of the churches with their utility bills. The fry bread is pictured.
